next to normal obcr

I've been listening to the Next to Normal Original Broadway Cast Recording for the past few weeks and I get the impression that if I ever see it on Broadway, I will spend 80% of the time sobbing my poor little heart out.

"I'm Alive" and "Superboy and the Invisible Girl" are my favorite songs.

This is from the off-broadway production and I think Aaron was slightly pitchy in a couple of parts, but it gave me chills. (And I agree with commenters who say he rivals Mimi from Rent in pole-dancing.)

Fun factoid: Aaron Tveit auditioned for Finn on Glee. I don't know if I can see him in the role (even though he's amazing) because Finn's supposed to be slightly awkward with singing and Glee. And Aaron... isn't (awkward, I mean).

And granted, there's a lot of hate for Cory since he's a lead with no prior dancing or singing experience, but he is really good with 80s rock songs.

He improved enough in the back nine to make me want to send his vocal coach flowers.

I just wish that the writers in Glee assign him songs that are actually in his wheelhouse. (Just, "A House is Not a Home". Oh god, he sounded like a rejected Disney Prince rickrolling Chris Colfer's amazing solo. The song just isn't within his range.)

Okay, on to my second favorite song!

Aaand speaking of Glee, I really want Jenna Ushkowitz to tackle this song on the show. Her voice is the perfect timbre for the song and it's a song about being overlooked and being someone's second choice.
