katy perry's "california gurls"

It all started with someone linking McSweeny's Internet Tendency's California Gurls: An Anthropological Study on twitter which made me crack up so hard that I pretty much earned the judgmental looks I received from various family members. I couldn't help it: I'm an Anthro major.

And of course, because the song was the subject of the 'study', I needed to listen to the song. I heard it a number of times before, but I wasn't too enamored. It was catchy but extremely trite and the music video is like the board game Candy Land, only on crack.

And now it's stuck in my head.

It's been stuck in my head for the past two hours and has racked up an unmentionable number of play counts on iTunes.

It's like what happened when several people on Facebook linked the Star Trek video with Ke$ha's Tik Tok and I had the song stuck in my head for a week. Although Tik Tok has Paul DeKay, some kid who resembles Russell from Up!, and Matt Bomer on its side.

Oh, and one of my favorite Glee fanvideos. (The editing! The timing! Be still, my heart. Well-timed videos basically makes my heart do this ":D :D :D". Obviously, I should marry an actor/singer/musician/writer/artist/director. What's this you say about high expectations?)

Also, hilariously enough, some people are convinced that Tik Tok and California Gurls are the same song which makes sense since both songs were written and produced by Dr. Luke.
